Restructuring path to a greater Nigeria, says Obasanjo.

               Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again stressed the need for restructuring in Nigeria, warning that the longer this is delayed, the worse it will turn out for the country.                   Liverpool crowned EPL Champions Jurgen Klopp’s side, Liverpool were officially declared champions after Manchester City lost 2-1 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night. The Reds’ first league title since 1990 was confirmed after Pep Guardiola’s side failed to win at Stamford Bridge. Christian Pulisic’s goal had given Chelsea to lead before a wonderful Kevin De Bruyne sparked hopes of a comeback, but Fernandinho’s late red card led to a coolly converted penalty to win the game – and gift Liverpool league glory. With seven games remaining, it is the earliest any side has ever won the Premier League title, with Jurgen Klopp’s men surpassing the achievements of Manchester United in 2000-01 and Manchester City’s ‘centurions’ of 2017-18. Both of those teams clinched the league with five games left.

NCDC Confirms 684 New COVID-19 Cases, Total Now 23,298

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 684 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number to 23,298. The NCDC made the announcement on Friday night via its Twitter handle. “On the 26th of June 2020, 684 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria. No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours. “Till date, 23298 cases have been confirmed, 8253 cases have been discharged and 554 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory. “The 684 new cases are reported from 19 states- Lagos(259),Oyo(76), Katsina(69), Delta(66), Rivers(46), Ogun(23), Edo(22), Osun(22), Ebonyi(21), FCT(20), Kaduna(16), Ondo(10), Imo(9), Abia(9), Gombe(5), Plateau(4), Bauchi(4), Ekiti(2), Anambra(1),” the NCDC said. COVID-19: Osun Records 17 New Cases, Discharges Three Patients

                                    Osun State government, on Thursday, confirmed the discovery of 17 new COVID-19 cases in the state. it ALSO announced the discharge of three patients, who have recovered from the pandemic. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, made this disclosure in a press statement forwarded to the  Tribune Online  in Osogbo. He also hinted that three of the previous cases had been discharged after testing negative twice for the virus. According to him, “Six new cases were discovered on Wednesday night after the discovery of an earlier seven cases, while another 11 were discovered on Thursday. All the cases have been taken into the state’s isolation and treatment centres in Osogbo and Ile Ife respectively. Ondo 2020: Ondo Monarchs Endorse Akeredolu For Second Term

      Ahead of the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, the State Council of Traditional rulers on Thursday, threw their weight behind the second term aspiration of the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, saying “the governor has performed beyond expectations.” The first-class monarchs in the state said the endorsement became necessary to appreciate Akeredolu’s dedication and hard work in the three and half years of his stewardship in the state. Importation: ANLCA Demands Sack Of Custom CG Over Arbitrary Demand Notices.

The Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) and its management team for lack of professionalism and unnecessary demand notices issued on import cargoes at the nation’s ports. Speaking to maritime journalists on Thursday in Apapa, the Vice President of ANLCA, Mr Kayode Farinto alleged that since the present Customs management came on board, there has been arbitrary demand notices that have been slammed on imports, adding that Customs Agents now face several bottlenecks in the clearance of goods which is against the ease of doing business policy of the Federal Government.                                Although there has been no official confirmation from his family, there were reports on Thursday afternoon that the immediate past Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, is dead. One of his political associates and a member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Akin Alabi, tweeted: “Forever in my heart” illustrating it with the photographs of Ajimobi. A former member of his cabinet also confirmed his death, but said “everybody is waiting for the family to make the announcement.” The mood around his Oluyole residence was sombre this evening but there was no one ready to speak on the matter. Sports Ministry Trains 7,000 Youths On Digital Skills ―Minister

The Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development has trained 7,000 youths in the IBM Digital Skill Training Programme in its bid to address youth unemployment in the country. The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, made the disclosure while speaking with State House correspondents on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council’s virtual meeting.
